HOW TO SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE

 Reminder:  When navigating through VolunteerUP do NOT use your browser’s “Back” button.
       Always use VolunteerUp’s “Return” or “Return to Calendar” buttons

Once registered, you can sign yourself up to work on one of the construction sites from the Project Calendar.  If at any time you need to return to the calendar, press on the “Return” button.

 

1.      Look for the house on which you would like to volunteer.  If you are not sure, double click on one of the house names to view the address, a brief description of that build and any notes on when construction on that house will start.

2.      Open days are identified by either “Sign Up” or the name of a group.  Where a group name is indicated, the building for that day is restricted to people belonging to or associated with that group.

3.      To advance through the calendar, use the links at the top of the page to advance/return through a week or month or even by clicking on a specific month you are interested in.

4.      Once you have identified a day on which you would like to work, click on the blue wording.

Note:  If you get the following message, you are trying to sign up for a day that has been restricted for a specific group that you are not a part of.   Please press the “Return” button and select another day.

                                    For this Day - Only XYZ team members may sign up!

            If you believe you are getting this message in error, you may need to correct your profile to reflect that you are a part of this group.  (See section below on “Updating Your Profile.”)

5.      Sign Up Screen
Upon entering the sign up screen, you will see a list of “shifts” available.  “Shifts” can be construction volunteer, site host, lunch provider, etc.  If the “shift” you want to sign up for says FULL (see example), you can be placed on a wait list.  (See “Signing Up For the Wait List” below.)

     

      Sign up for the shift you desire by clicking on the box in front of that shift.  If you are signing up for a group, see instructions below on “Signing Up a Group.”

      Next, indicate if you would like an email reminder and, if so, how many days prior to the event. 

      To finish, click the “Sign Up” button.

               

            Upon completion of your sign-up, you will receive a confirmation and be provided the opportunity to print a
            copy of the confirmation or have a confirmation emailed to you.

            If necessary, you can also either update or delete your sign-up at this point.

            When finished, press return to go back to the calendar.  Your sign-up is complete.

           

6.      Signing Up for the Wait List
If the shift you wanted to sign up for is full, you can be wait listed.  To do this, click on the blue “Wait List” link.

On the next screen, indicate if you are bringing any guests and/or if you want an email reminder, then click on the WaitList button.  (If you do not wish to be wait listed, press the “Return” button.)

           

            You will see a message indicating that you have been added to the wait list and will be notified via email if a position becomes available.                   

7.      Signing Up a Group
If you are signing up a group to work, after selecting the shift, indicate the number of guests you will be bringing.  This number EXCLUDES yourself. 

Note:  The system will only allow you to sign up the number of guests for the remaining volunteer slots available.  If you have more guests to bring than there are slots available, you will need to select another day.

Finally, indicate the name of your group.

IMPORTANT:  If you are signing up for a group, it is important that you make sure that all individuals you have signed up show up for the work day.  If there are individuals who will not be able to make it, please be sure to change the number of people you signed up.

8.      Updating or Deleting A Work Day You Have Signed Up For
You can review your commitments at any time by clicking on the “My Info” link at the top of the calendar page.  Then, on the “My Info” screen, double click on “My Commitments.”  This will display a screen of your current commitments.  From this screen you can change your commitment (by clicking on the work day you wish to change) or delete the commitment by clicking on “Delete Commitment.”

9.      Updating Your Profile
Your profile contains key information about yourself and your skills/interests.  If anything changes, we encourage you to come back to VolunteerUp and update your profile.  Simply click on the “My Info” link and then double click on “My Profile.”  Make any changes needed to your personal information, update your skills or indicate any group(s) you may be part of.  When finished, press on the “Update” button and then “Return” to go back to the calendar.
