As 2009 draws to a close, we want to wish all of you who have partnered with us throughout the year, a holiday filled with peace, family, friends and the blessings of Christmas. Because of you, there are over 160 families who will have a simple, decent and affordable place to call home this Christmas. For some, it will be their first Christmas in a home of their own.
2010 will bring new challenges and opportunities to help even more families escape poverty housing as we continue with plans to open a ReStore, Warehouse and Administrative/Training Center. We hope we will be able to count on your continued partnership in the new year!

Goodbye to a Faithful Servant

|
(Larry Burrows passed away on Sunday, November 29 at the age of 71)
Larry Burrows, co-Lead Site Coordinator of the Shalom Coalition of Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity, passed away on
November 29 after a brief illness. He is remembered as always smiling and
willing to do whatever was needed to build houses for Habitat. Larry had been
involved with the Shalom coalition since it started over 13 years ago. The
important loves of his life were: his wife, Ann (who is the lunch coordinator
for Shalom); Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity and Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church.
Born in
Charleston, WV, Larry was trained as
a machinist and cross-trained as an engineering technician and had several patents. When he
retired, he spent his time serving his church and his community. Larry kept
detailed records of Shalom's progress and was said to have his work truck so
well equipped and organized that he had just about anything you needed and could tell
you exactly where to find it. Larry’s kindness, energy,
dedication, leadership and always ready smile will be missed so much by all who
had the blessing to know him and share their lives with him. We can certainly imagine the Lord saying to Larry upon welcoming him home: “Well done good and faithful
servant".
