Plastic or Paper?
It's a common question most of us hear with every shopping trip: "Plastic or paper?" For some of us, the very question can raise an internal conflict as we try to decide which we should use. Paper is more environmentally friendly, isn't it? Or is it? Do you know that the production of paper bags creates 70% more air pollution than plastic? Ah, but we must not forget that plastic bags create four times the solid waste -- and they can last up to 1,000 years!
So what is the right choice? Because it's cheaper to produce, plastic is the overwhelming choice of grocery stores across the nation. The average family of four uses almost 1,500/year. So how can we be environmentally responsible while not losing the convenience of the plastic bags? The ReStore has the answer.
The very concept behind the ReStore is to keep recyclable materials out of our area landfills. And the ReStore can help with all those plastic bags that you have run out of room to store and yet don't want to toss in the garbage. Donate your plastic bags to the ReStore! That's right -- stop by any day (Tues-Sat 9am-5pm) with your bags. We'd love to have them and help you resolve the question of "Plastic or paper?"
(To learn more about our ReStore and other items that can be recycled, visit our website.)

Prior to that, he designed and managed the warehouse facility for Answers in Genesis where he also set up 300 plus speaking engagements. Steve has 10 years experience in residential and commercial contracting, building houses, assisted living facilities, and office buildings.
Steve lives in Kentucky along with his wife of 28 years. He has three grown children and one granddaughter. He serves as a deacon at Kenton Baptist Church. Steve enjoys art, basketball and spending time with his family.
We are excited to have Steve with us. His background and experience are evident when looking at the organization of the ReStore. We hope you will come out to meet him and see for yourself when the ReStore opens later this spring.

Construction Season is Here!
|
|
Spring is in the air and that signals the time for allergies and construction season!
Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity will be increasing production this year by two more homes, bringing our total this year to 14 homes -- 10 new construction and 4 rehabs. This increase in production is in keeping with the affiliate's long-term strategic plan which calls for a continued increase in house production each year until it reaches 20+ houses per year. It also represents a quadrupling of the rehab side of the business. To find out more about the houses that Cincinnati Habitat will be building this year, visit our website. And don't forget while you're on the site to click on the "Get Involved" link and sign up to volunteer. There are all types of opportunities for people to help build houses for families in need of a simple, decent place to call home in the Greater Cincinnati area -- from working in the office, to preparing lunches, to volunteering on site or even at the ReStore.
